Horror in Paradise: Pahalgam Attack Leaves 26 Dead

Pahalgam, April 22, 2025 - The peaceful valley of Pahalgam turned into a nightmare today when terrorists opened fire on tourists and locals, killing 26 people in cold blood. The attack happened around 4 PM at the busy market area near the famous Lidder River.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as people ran for their lives. "We heard sudden gunshots and saw people falling," said a shopkeeper who wished to remain anonymous. "I pulled three injured tourists inside my shop and locked the door."

The victims include:

  • 15 Indian tourists from different states

  • 6 local Kashmiri vendors

  • 3 Nepali tourists

  • 2 foreign nationals

Who Did This?
A terrorist group called The Resistance Front (TRF) has claimed responsibility. Security experts say TRF is just another name for Lashkar-e-Taiba, the Pakistan-based terror outfit.

Government Response
Prime Minister Modi called it "a cowardly attack on innocent people" and promised strong action. Home Minister Amit Shah is flying to Kashmir tonight to review the situation.

Local Heroes Shine
Despite the terror, ordinary people became heroes:

  • Pony riders formed human chains to protect tourists

  • Taxi drivers rushed the injured to hospitals

  • Shopkeepers gave shelter to scared visitors

What Happens Now?
Security has been doubled at all tourist spots in Kashmir. The government has announced:

  • ₹10 lakh compensation for families of the dead

  • Free medical care for the injured

  • Special investigation team to catch the killers

As night falls over Pahalgam, the beautiful valley looks different - police checkpoints everywhere, empty streets, and a heavy silence. But the locals say this won't break their spirit. "We've seen worse," said an old guide. "Tomorrow, we'll wake up and show the world Kashmir still stands strong."
