"Toy Planes and Sacred Dreams : The Story of Gurudwara Talhan Sahib Ji "

Gurudwara Talhan Sahib Ji has a unique tradition that sets it apart from other shrines. Devotees flock to this sacred site, bearing gifts of toy airplanes, which symbolize their deepest aspirations to reach new heights. Interestingly, this custom is believed to have originated from people's desires to fly in an airplane one day. The sheer number of toy planes on display creates a striking visual, highlighting the power of hope and devotion. What's even more touching is that these toys are later given to children, spreading happiness and continuing the cycle of positivity.

Gurudwara Talhan Sahib Ji, also known as Shaheed Baba Nihal Singh Gurdwara, is a historic Sikh shrine in Talhan, a village on the outskirts of Jalandhar, Punjab:

The shrine was built to honor Baba Nihal Singh, a local who helped his fellow villagers. After Baba Nihal Singh died in an accident while installing a pulley, his devotee Harnam Singh built a shrine in his memory. The two shrines were later combined to form the present Gurudwara.

The Gurudwara is known for its peaceful environment and for the toy airplanes that devotees offer to the deity. The tradition of offering toy airplanes is said to come from devotees wishing to fly in an airplane someday. The collected toys are given to children.

The Gurudwara hosts an annual Mela in June to mark the death anniversary of Baba Nihal Singh. The Mela includes sports events like Kabaddi, volleyball, and tug-of-war, as well as Gatka (Sikh martial arts) displays.

Some say the Gurudwara is revered for its spiritual ambiance and historical importance. Others say it's a place where you can wish for something and your dream will come true
